Leg Veins

What You Should Know

When veins in the legs become enlarged and painful, they are called varicose veins. This condition can vary from very small veins (spider veins) to very large ones. While commonly affecting the legs, varicose veins can also be seen elsewhere.

Veins found deep in the muscles have valves to prevent blood from flowing backwards. Genetic factors cause the veins to dilate. This means that the valves can’t prevent this “backflow,” which results in the development of new veins. Until recently, the “gold standard” for treating these veins was painful, surgical vein stripping.

How We Help

Recent improvements in laser and radiofrequency technology have made surgery much less common.

At FreshSkin, we treat your leg veins with a combination of lasers and sclerotherapy. Dr. Tenore has performed sclerotherapy procedures on thousands of satisfied patients since 1986.
