Medical Weight Loss in Chicago, IL

FreshSkin offers medical supervised weight loss programs to the residents of Chicago, Evanston and the surrounding communities in Illinois.

Obesity is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide. This condition is increasing in adults and children and is the viewed by many as the most serious public health problem in the United States. While the availability of inexpensive high fat foods has been blamed, there may be underlying factors that cause individuals to rapidly gain weight and interfere with the ability to lose weight and keep it off.

Conditions They Treat

This is the right choice when you’re ready to lose up to 30 pounds in about 40 days (Rapid Weight Loss Program), or 20 pounds in 20 days (Fast Track Program).

How They Work

We have several diet programs;  a rapid weight loss program with HCG support, weight loss using phentermine, and utilizing food sensitivity testing to see if food sensitivities are responsible for your weight loss  struggle.

Types of Programs

Rapid Weight Loss—This programs use a naturally occurring hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and a very low, 500 calorie diet. HCG helps to mobilize fat stores—rather than lean muscle mass—to be used as fuel.

These programs include the following proven elements to help you lose weight and keep it off:

  • Prescription Hormones: You will receive a 40-day supply of prescription hormones.
  • Lab Tests: Blood is drawn for a thorough medical workup: a Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP), Complete Blood Count (CBC), Kidney & Liver Functions, and Thyroid Panel (free T3, T4 and TSH). Other tests include a lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, cardiac risk factor), blood sugar levels, protein and calcium levels, kidney and liver functions, white and red blood cells.
  • In-body Body Composition Analysis: This measures your body fat percentage, intracellular water, extracellular water, total body water, dry lean mass, body fat mass, lean body mass, weight, skeletal muscle mass, Body Mass Index (BMI), segmental lean development (right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg and left leg), and basal metabolic rate (BMR).
  • Baseline Body Measurements: We measure your waist size, hip size, height, and blood pressure and pulse rate.
  • Consultation: One of our healthcare staff will conduct a personal interview to review your health history, vital statistics, and personal goals. Our staff will meet with you to review all information and lab tests, to conduct a medical exam, and determine an appropriate treatment plan.
  • Weight Loss Booklet: This offers important information for healthy eating, tips for losing weight and keeping it off, and a template for a diet journal.
  • Protocol for Restricted Calorie Diet with Prescription Hormones: You will receive this detailed guide.
  • Weekly Weigh-ins: One of our health care professionals will check your progress, discuss your program, celebrate your successes, and strategize with you on any difficulties.

We offer both a six week and a three week (Fast Track) Program.

Additional programs include:

  • Weight Loss with Phentermine, which is a safe appetite suppressant. This program is intended for people who simply need some help with appetite control.
  • ALCAT Testing to determine food sensitivities which may be contributing to weight gain The ALCAT test has been used for almost 30 years and has been proven to be of benefit for a number of health conditions from uncontrolled weight gain, arthritis, migraines, chronic fatigue, intractable skin disorders, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, hyperactivity and maybe even infertility. The results are based on your unique genetic and biochemical make-up. It is NOT an “allergy” or IgE test; rather it measures changes in size and volume of white blood cells in response to ex-vivo (out of the body) challenges to foods, chemical and other environmental stimuli. In a nutshell,  it is detecting sensitivities and intolerances.  It is a FDA registered/Inspected device manufacturer. The results are presented in an easy to understand, color-coded format with four possible categories; severe, moderate and mild intolerance, a category for acceptable foods and three reports for reactions to Candida, Gluten/ Gliadin and Casein/Whey.  The recommendations would include avoidance of the sensitizing foods for defined periods of time along with a customized 4-Day rotation plan. The basis of the rotation plan is that variety is very important for optimum health and wellbeing. The human digestive system is much more suited to coping with a seasonal diet. Eating foods one day and then omitting them for at least the next three days tends to prevent sensitivities from developing.  If you are interested in a consultation, check with your insurance carrier to see if the consultation and test are covered under your plan.
  • Maintenance programs which include: Weekly Weigh-ins, vitamin shots and several nutraceuticals.
