AquaGold is a revolutionary microneedling system that delivers products into the dermis, the important part of the skin. No other micro needling system currently works in this manner and is so comfortable that application of an anesthetic agent is unnecessary.

The AquaGold treatment involves the use of a small hand-held vial with a screw top lid that houses very fine spirals of gold fashioned needles that are as thin as a strand of hair.  A customized blend of products is placed in the vial and the lid screwed back on.  The fluid then travels down the hollow needles, and delivers the solution into the layer of the skin where it most counts.

While the treatment appears to be very simple, we do not want to let that fool you.  It is the technological advancement of the product delivery design that allows us to perform an incredibly powerful treatment in only a short period of time.

What is traditional microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-invasive, comfortable treatment that utilizes a pen-like device containing small needle tips. The pen is moved across the face, and the needles gently pierce the skin causing minor trauma redness (erythema).  Microneedling is beneficial for anyone who has any form of scarring including acne , burns, surgical, and stretch marks. It is also a great treatment  for aging skin. By causing minor “controlled damage”, the skin is stimulated to “heal” and create fresh, new, healthy collagen.

How is this procedure performed?

It is performed on an outpatient basis. A session typically begins with the aesthetician cleansing the face, prior to the application of the pen.  The pen is then moved over the surface of the skin.  The treatment may also include the application of either peptides, growth factors, or platelet rich plasma to intensify the results. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is created by taking a small sample of your blood and removing the red and white cells, leaving only a source of growth factors that act as stem cells for your skin to create even more collagen and elastin.

All skin can be treated with this procedure.

What do most patients feel during a procedure?

Most patients feel only minor discomfort during the procedure and a tingling, warm sensation after it is completed.

What is the recovery period like?

You will leave the office with a slightly pink face that may last 24-48 hours. Occasionally there is a small amount of flaking 2-3 days later, depending on how much prior underlying skin damage the patient has.

When will results be noticed?

Most people report a sensation of softer smoother skin within several days, but full  results will take several weeks.

Are multiple treatments necessary?

The general rule for treatment results is “the more downtime, the fewer the treatments”. Microneedling is a gentle procedure that should be performed monthly. We recommend a series of 4-6 treatments, but if combined with PRP, this can be decreased in half.

Who should NOT get microneedling?

Anyone taking any medications that interfere with their immune system will not get the same results. Examples include Humira.

Under what circumstances is microneedling superior to AquaGold?

Superficial acne scarring is best treated with a series of microneedling treatments rather than AquaGold.
