What is Plasma Technology?

Often referred to as a Fibroblast treatment, Plasma technology takes advantage of the fine layer of ionized gas, or plasma, that exists along the surface of your skin. The device never actually touches the skin. Plasma devices emit energy that instantly sublimates a precise spot on the skin. Plasma fibroblast technology treats areas of loose skin, shallow and deep creases, scars, and small lesions by stimulating your body’s own natural healing response. A sealed wound is created and heat is delivered below the skin to kickstart fibroblast activity, which stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

How does Subnovii treatment differ from other plasma pens?

Subnovii is the first plasma device to employ LF (low frequency) technology – plus a patented wavelength and power combination. Subnovii’s highly controlled, low frequency emission means treatments are more precise and healing time is reduced.

The tip of the plasma device never actually touches the skin – it’s the power of molecular physics that gives this treatment its magic.

Major Benefits of the Subnovii

  • No cutting, piercing, or open wounds on the skin
  • No stitches or scars to cover with dressings
  • Very low risk with minimal downtime
  • Long-lasting results
  • Fast healing time

What areas can be treated with Subnovii?

Most areas on the face and body can be treated with Subnovii. The most popular areas to treat are around the eyes (both upper and lower), around the mouth, forehead, jawline, décolleté and neck. Because Subnovii can target very specific areas of concern, your provider may discuss combining with other aesthetic treatments.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of the procedure will depend on the area you are treating. This is an “in office” procedure and you are able to head home after the treatment.

Average treatment time is 30-45 mins, not including numbing.

What post-care steps are required?

Every patient will receive specially formulated post-care products and instructions to promote optimal healing. The key elements in the post care process include keeping the area dry, allowing the scabs to flake off on their own without touching or interference, and avoiding UV exposure. It is important to use sun protection long after treatment.

Who is a candidate for Subnovii?

Talk to your provider about whether a treatment with Subnovii is right for you. Some skin types may be at risk for post-procedure pigmentation issues, so it is important to speak with an experienced and licensed aesthetic provider.

What should you expect during your Subnovii treatment?

Your provider will apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment area. Once the area is adequately anesthetized, the skin is cleansed, and the treatment is ready to begin. You will feel a deep, warm sensation with some areas being more sensitive than others. In general, patients report little discomfort during the treatment. The plasma device creates an instant sealed wound on the skin that turn into small scabs called “Carbon Crusts” that take about 5-10 days to heal. The scabs are a natural and protective barrier to the magic taking place below. Because the treatment area is immediately sealed, there is minimal risk of side effects. As the area heals, the skin may feel tight and itchy. Mild swelling immediately post treatment is normal and will resolve within a few days. Once the area heals, the skin beneath may look pink. This is renewed skin and any redness will progressively fade.

When will you see results?

Results can be seen immediately after the treatment and beyond. You will see continued improvements for up to 6 months after your Subnovii procedure.

Proper skin care will be recommended for pre- and post- Subnovii treatment by your provider to maximize results.

Common questions:

Is this the same as a PRP facial or microneedling?

This is a common misconception, but an understandable assumption given the shared word “plasma” and fine (needle-like) tip. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma, which refers to a component of our own blood and is often used in regenerative medicine as well as in combination with microneedling treatments to help rejuvenate and heal the skin. Subnovii, on the other hand, utilizes plasma energy to achieve a skin tightening effect.  It does not involve blood or needles. In fact, the device tip never actually touches the surface of the skin.

Is this a full face or spot treatment?

The beautiful thing about this treatment is that it is completely customizable, making it easy to address your individual needs. It can be used to rejuvenate major areas of the face, essentially resulting in a “full face” treatment, or it can be used to target specific lines such as crow’s feet or forehead wrinkles.
