Sagging Skin
What You Should Know
The breakdown of elastin and collagen is part of the natural aging process. This results in loss of the skin’s youthful plumpness and resilience. In addition, as it ages, skin renews itself at a much slower rate than in childhood. There are also other factors that affect how quickly skin will recuperate when it has been affected: weight changes, genetics, and environmental factors (such as UV light and tobacco use).
In addition, facial aging includes a combination of bony remodeling (or movements) and fat loss, the classic result being the development of hollowness under the eyes and the formation of “jowls.”
How We Can Help
Sagging Skin:
We treat this condition with a new FDA-approved device called Exilis®. This is a non-invasive, fat-reducing approach that uses safe thermal energy which, when delivered to the tissues, causes the body to undergo a healing response. This then leads to healthier, tighter collagen. Patients experience a comfortable deep-heating sensation with each short treatment session. Four sessions are recommended for optimum results. We suggest doing them at 7- to 10-day intervals.
Sagging Face:
We treat this condition with a combination of a 3-step series that we like to call: lifting, filling, and heating. The best results start with the Silhouette Lift™, followed by correcting the volume loss with any combination of dermal fillers, volumizers and Exilis® skin tightening treatments.
The Silhouette Lift™ is a minimally invasive procedure that is ideal for correcting signs of aging in the nasolabial folds, the expression lines and the jowls. The Silhouette Lift™ is a mid-face repositioning procedure that allows you to regain volume in the cheeks, and to redefine your jaw line immediately following the procedure. It is suitable for both men and women who want to achieve a younger looking appearance without the constraint of undergoing a traditional facelift.
The Silhouette Lift™ is performed in 4 stages:
- Local Anesthesia
- Mini incision in the temporal area and insertion of the Silhouette Sutures™
- The Silhouette Sutures™ are anchored in the facial tissue
- The Silhouette Sutures™ are fastened in the temporal area, and the incision is closed
These steps are performed in a comfortable office environment and takes only one hour to complete. It is done under local anesthesia with a recovery time of only 2 to 4 days before you can go back to your regular activities. The results are very natural and long-lasting. The Silhouette Lift™ procedure was approved by the FDA in 2006. Since then, more than 17,000 procedures have been performed.
